The Director of the International Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research (ICEESR), Professor Edu Inam, has been named one of nine recipients of the 2026 Faculty for the Future Impact Prize, awarded by the Schlumberger Foundation.
The Impact Prize is a merit-based award that recognises Faculty for the Future Fellows who are translating their scientific and engineering expertise into initiatives with demonstrated potential for wider impact, across educational outreach, technology innovation and social impact. This year’s nine winners were selected from 156 applications received from 61 countries.
Professor Inam was recognised for the project “Scaling a Research Equipment Database for Equitable Access in Nigeria”, an initiative to make the scientific equipment already held by Nigerian institutions visible and shareable, so that researchers can find and use facilities that would otherwise sit idle or be needlessly duplicated.
Announcing the winners, Capella Festa, President of the Schlumberger Foundation, said: “The Impact Prize allows us to recognize this leadership, connect it across the fellowship and help it travel further.”
The award is a significant recognition of ICEESR’s work in strengthening research capacity in Nigeria and building shared, functional research infrastructure.
